Summer Camps
FCA Camps were in full swing again this summer, with coaches and athletes spending times of “inspiration and perspiration” together. One of the many highlights was the inaugural FCA Competitors Camp at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, where nearly 1,300 student-athletes ages 13-18 spent four days integrating Christ-centered messages into athletics. More than 100 made first-time commitments to Christ, and more than 300 felt a calling at this camp to enter into future ministry. “All our kids got to compete in really top-class athletic venues,” said Nick Richmond, FCA’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Director of MinistryAdvancement. “Being able to utilize places like the Liberty Indoor Track Complex, football facilities and Liberty Baseball Stadium was second-to-none in terms of camper experience. They were getting a taste of what NCAA Division I athletics has to offer at a place that’s also excellent in its Christian mission.”
Compassion International Partnership
On July 7-20, 2025, Swayze Waters, FCA’s Regional Director of International Advancement for the Southeast Central Region serving East Africa, and a team of 22 others from the U.S. partnered with Compassion International to minister in Addis Ababa and Jimma, Ethiopia. The team ran sports camps and soccer tournaments, trained local soccer coaches (with two U.S. Soccer Federation B- and one USSF A-licensed coaches) and facilitated discussions with local church leaders about the impact that sports ministry could have in their areas. This partnership is now expanding into two new clusters (regional groupings of local churches and Compassion International centers) in Ethiopia. “To partner with another organization to see our visions mutually move forward was a powerful image of co-laboring across cultures,” Waters said. “We are better together in the Kingdom! This is about much more than FCA, but FCA has a role.”
Field of Dreams (in Indiana)
Southeast Indiana FCA and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church of Charlestown, Indiana have teamed up to bring new life to an old field—and an exciting new season of ministry to Charlestown. Once a lively space that hosted a thriving coed church league, this field has sat unused for more than 15 years. Thanks to a new partnership, FCA and PRBC are working to restore the field and launch a coed adult softball league. The goal is to create a place where the community can gather again for fun, fellowship and faith. Dozens of people have shared stories about how much this field meant to them, with some even crediting it as the place where they first encountered Jesus. Softball is returning to Charlestown through FCA—and it’s coming back with purpose!
Angel Tree Basketball Camp Partnership
For the fourth year in a row, FCA DC partnered with Prison Fellowship for a free, one-day Angel Tree Basketball Camp at First Baptist Church of Glenarden International (Md.) in May. The attendees were children of parents who are currently incarcerated. FCA DC mobilized a coaching staff for an unforgettable day of play, fellowship, food, gifts and the Gospel.
