God is Greater

As competitors, we experience the truth that life and competition are never perfect or easy. Even if we are well prepared, well rested and have a plan, we step into the unknown on a daily basis. Throughout life and seasons, we are bound to become familiar with challenges and discouragement. You might encounter an injury, make a negative decision, struggle to balance the demands of athletics and education, fall into deception or experience deep personal loss.

When we find ourselves in the very middle of it, it can be even more challenging to see, know what to do or who to turn to. You might find yourself asking, “Why, God!?”. Yet when challenges and discouragement stand in our way--God is greater than what we face.

God is GreaterYou were created to do hard things, but you were not meant to do it all alone. Satan will tempt you into feeling inadequate and will deceive you into thinking that you do not need God. Do not forget that God is bigger than any slip-up, hardship or discouragement, and He has the power we need to face our struggles with strength!

This means that every day we can rely on God’s Holy Spirit, because His power is alive within us. When we trust in God, the Holy Spirit can help us change our perspective and help us to see past what is standing in our way and give us hope.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)

God sees you and He 100% understands what you are walking through right now in this season. He knows that it can be easy to stumble upon and fall into deceit and get caught up in feeling weak. But the God who is greater than every challenge and every stumbling block have given us a tool--the Bible. God’s Word is a firm foundation for us to stand on and find strength to combat lies with truth, find joy in our struggle and be encouraged in days of doubt.

He has promised to be faithful to see you through. In our sports, as well as life, there are going to be setbacks and challenges, but it is important to remember that God has called you for a purpose and has sent you on a specific mission. Not only is our God greater than these challenges, and the One who has given you a special purpose, but He has promised to be faithful to see you through. There is nothing that can hold God back from accomplishing things in and through you.

“Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure His greatness.” (Psalm 145:3)

When you are overcome with discouragement, be encouraged knowing that you have the greatest Coach ever to lead you. God won’t ever let you go and will never leave you to do it all alone. His desire is to give you the confidence, strength and joy you need not only to be an overcomer, but to lead others to choose Jesus too.

God is greater than any challenge you will face. Trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit; His power is alive in you! Have daily conversation with God. Be real with Him and rely on His Word. Whether it’s a chapter a day or a verse, reading God’s Word arms us with the strength our hearts crave. Do not wait to start praying, or reading your Bible or deepening your relationship with God; start today. By praying and reading the Bible daily, we find comfort and confidence in Him.

No matter how dark things look, He is our guiding Light. Lean on Him, trust in His Word and remember that He will lead you faithfully and give you the strength and confidence you need to endure and overcome.
