FCA Helps Students Start Huddles at Their School

Published on September 06, 2019

As students prepare for a new year, they have support from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which is ready, willing and able to provide student-requested resources for efforts that will allow Christ to change the lives of their peers.

For the past 65 years, FCA has helped students bring the presence of the international sports ministry to their campuses—from middle school to college. Small gatherings called Huddles, efforts toward team unity, early morning Bible studies and even larger campus-wide events all help students to experience eternal, saving grace and to know what it means to have their lives changed by Jesus.

“Just like students, parents, coaches and athletes, all of us at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes look forward to each new school year with excitement!” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “It’s so inspirational to meet the new, young leaders God will raise up to impact their friends and teammates for Christ. The school campus, coupled with after-school activities and team practices, is the place where students spend the bulk of their time. So if they can meet Jesus through their friends and through the sports they love, it’s an amazing, eternal experience for all involved.”

Visiting “Get Involved”, students can learn about more opportunities to bring an FCA presence to their campus, including Huddles, which consist of meetings and Bible studies for teams, coaches or groups involved in multi-sports. Students can also begin planning ahead for the student-led Fields of Faith gatherings, happening Oct. 9 on athletic fields nationwide.

FCA is wrapping up its 2019 Camps season, with nearly 800 events in the U.S. and internationally this summer that will reach upwards ofA64A2904 100,000 campers. This summer’s Camps theme, “Let’s Go,” based on Matthew 28:18-20, focused on the fact that believers serve a strong God, and how His followers are called to be like Him in every area of their lives—including sports. The coaches and athletes who attended FCA Camps discovered that polishing their athletic skills is important but strengthening their faith in Christ is crucial.

Said one FCA camper on social media: “FCA camp was great!! I follow my faith in God more than I have ever have before. I want to thank the people that are by my side as I go through this great journey.”

This summer, tens of thousands of coaches, athletes, teams and volunteers participated in hundreds of Camps in almost every state in the nation and in 50 countries for a time of “inspiration and perspiration.”

FCA Camps take the best attributes of an athletic-focused camp and a spiritual-focused camp and combines them into an athletic/spiritual experience like none other. FCA Camps remove athletes and coaches from the routine of their sport, friends, co-workers and community, and place them into an exciting, healthy, athletic environment that allows them to pursue their passion for sport and clearly see and hear Christ’s passion for them.
