Thousands of coaches and athletes are participating at an FCA Camp around the country and world this summer. Here are a few reflections from the hearts and minds of faces seen around camp.

Alyssa Kenny Chrissy

Alyssa, Kenny and Chrissy
Huddle Leaders

Name: Alyssa
School: Southeastern University
Sport: Basketball
Year: Junior

FCA: How did you find out about camp?

Alyssa: My brother works for FCA (Jeff Ramos), so I’ve been coming ever since he started on staff.

FCA: What do you expect for this week?

Alyssa: I expect to see a lot of lives changed. I’ve seen it the past two years; it’s just an amazing experience. I expect to see kids come in one way and completely change and turn around and leave another way, and to get better at our sport while we’re here, too!

FCA: What’s one thing God’s been teaching you lately?

Alyssa: God’s been teaching me a lot about how my mistakes don’t define me, and that my identity is found in Him and not in people or things in the world. And how much the Father loves me, and how much grace He has on my life.

Name: Kenny
School: University of Rochester
Sport: Football
Year: Junior

FCA: How did you find out about camp?

Kenny: This is my fourth year at camp; third year as a Huddle leader. I have been a part of FCA since my sophomore year of high school. I love being a part of FCA and started a Huddle by myself my sophomore year of high school and then started a Huddle at my college, trying to connect sports with my relationship with Christ and doing that with other athletes as well.

FCA: What makes you keep coming back?

Kenny: FCA Camp, to me, is the best week out of the summer. It’s not only the best week out of the summer, but I think the best week out of the year. It’s such a positive place to be around such a great cloud of witnesses and it encourages me to keep going and definitely tells me there’s a reason why I’m doing what I do.

Name: Chrissy
School: UCLA
Sport: Basketball
Year: Sophomore

FCA: How did you hear about camp?

Chrissy: My mom worked for FCA when I was younger, so I used to come to Camp when I was little. Then I was a camper a few times a few years ago, and then I was recruited by Kristin Stockfisch to be a Huddle Leader.

FCA: What are you looking forward to most?

Chrissy: I’m looking forward to meeting new people and seeing how God can work in these girls in such a short amount of time.

FCA: What does Undefeated mean to you?

Chrissy: I think it means that nothing you do is important because Jesus already won, and just live your life like that, without fear, without hesitation, and do things with confidence knowing that He already won and did it for you.

Kara

Name: Kara
Sport: Tennis
Position: Bakersfield private coach
Camp Experience: 4 years

FCA: What keeps you coming back to camp?

Kara: Being able to pour into the kids. It’s the whole experience, it’s a packaged deal—athletics and walking with God.

FCA: What’s been a highlight?

Kara: Last night with kids dedicating their lives to God, and everyone high-fiving them as they walked to the prayer room. I also like making connections at the coaches’ study in the morning.

FCA: How has God been working in your life this week?

Kara: To be trusting Him in what I’m gifted in, to help me use my talents for His work. And to share with the kids to work hard in whatever they’re doing and put God first.
