Doug Barkema

Executive Vice President and Legal Counsel:

Doug Barkema

Doug Barkema serves as the Executive Vice President and Legal Counsel, where he is responsible for managing all ministry legal matters, providing legal advice, guidance and instruction, and researching legal issues relevant to the work of FCA both domestically and internationally.

Prior to FCA, Doug served as General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary for Ardent Mills, and Senior Lawyer for Cargill. Doug earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from Iowa State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Iowa College of Law. He also earned his Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minn.

Doug accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a child, but his faith journey really began when he was willing to live and serve like he believed Jesus Christ was indeed his Lord and Savior. He joined FCA Endurance as a teammate in 2009 and served on its Advisory Board from 2012 to 2015. He has also been invited to speak to university students, and new lawyers on ethics, business partnering and risk management.

Doug currently resides in Denver, CO with his wife, Summer and two children. They attend Waterstone Community Church, and Doug is on the Board of Trustees of Denver Christian School.

In his spare time, Doug can be found mountain biking, running with his German Shorthair Pointer Woody, snowboarding, climbing, or competing in endurance mountain bike races.
