FCA Football Coach of the Year

Coach Bowden has been the head coach of Clemson University’s football team since 1999, and during that time has accumulated an impressive resume.
This year, Bowden guided the Tigers to a victory in the Champs Sports Bowl, a Top 25 finish for the third time in six years, and himself earned his 50th victory at Clemson with a win over his father, Bobby Bowden, and the Florida State Seminoles.
With strong ties to FCA running in his family, Tommy Bowden has been active with the ministry for many years attending camps and events and speaking out for Christ through FCA.
Grant Teaff Lifetime Achievement Award

A 41-year football coach, Parker Dykes officially stepped down as the head coach of Jones County Junior College in December, 2005.
After 14 years at JCJC, his alma mater, Dykes had amassed an impressive 92-50-1 record—one that included one national title (1998), two state and Region 23 titles (1998, 2002) and four post-season bowl appearances.
A member of the NJCAA Hall of Fame and former president of the American Community College Football Association, Dykes is heavily involved with FCA at the local, state and national levels.
Bobby Bowden Football Player of the Year Award

In his first year as the starting quarterback for the University of Georgia, Donald Eugene (D.J.) Shockley led the Bulldogs to a 10-3 record and an appearance in the Nokia Sugar Bowl.
He was one of seven finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, was selected to the 2005 American Football Coaches Good Works Team, and was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in both 2004 and 2005.
In reference to Shockley’s receiving the FCA Bobby Bowden Award, Georgia coach Mark Richt said, “I can’t think of anybody more deserving of this award. D.J. is not only a great student, but also a great human being. He is a guy who understands that he is not the center of the universe and is a team man all the way.”
Other finalists for the award included Auburn wide receiver Ben Obomanu and Arizona State lineman Grayling Love. |
