The Leader's Journey Impacting Africa

Published on June 28, 2019

Expanding the ministry capacity of sports ministry leaders around the world is the heartbeat of FCA International. Last week from June 17-21, 2019 in Accra, Ghana, 31 Leaders from fifteen African nations attended the 2nd Annual Africa Capacity Conference (ACC). They were joined by a training team comprised of five FCA Staff and four leaders from Lifeshape, an international foundation of Chick-Fil-A.

Each of the four mornings the African leaders led out in praise music and dance followed by devotional time focused on the four FCA Core Values: Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence.

The Lifeshape training team joined by two African Leaders from Togo and Sierra Leone led the conference in The Leader's Journey curriculum. Each Leader was challenged to apply the five habits to every leader’s most valuable asset – their character.

Each afternoon the ministry sessions built upon Fulfilling the Vision in leading every African coach and athlete in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. Sessions included: Coaches Ministry, Ministry Planning, Funding Your Ministry and 3D Coaching Development.

Conference Testimonies from the African Leaders:

“I could not have had a better preparation to step out and work in my Calling for serving athletes and coaches in Ghana,” shares Isaac Kwapong.

“This week has been a time for renewing, refreshing and confirmation. I really cannot find the word to describe,” said Moreno from Madagascar. “With all of the materials and how God has spoken in each session, it is really something that God has been preparing for my future. God reminded me that He has put a diamond in me which is this gift of sports. God can change nations through coaches and athletes. This is my direction and calling.”

I would like to say, the Capacity Conference has given me so much knowledge and confidence. It’s time for me “to go” (make disciples),” says Michael from Uganda.

“I was challenged to do more and reach out to the unreach to bring them to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus,” said Agnes from Sierra Leone.

“Thank you for the resources and time you invested in us during this conference. There is so much to consider and apply beyond the conference. I personal highly rate the conference amongst the best I have attended,” shares Xo from Swaziland.

“I honestly feel more capable to GO and fulfill the Great Commission through sports to coaches and athletes,” shares Isaac from Ghana.

“I believe in God that my life will never be the same in my coaching journey, thanks to FCA for changing Africa coaches lifestyle,” adds Amos from Ghana.
