2009 Hall of Champions

Dal Shealy

Widely loved throughout the FCA ministry, Dal Shealy served as the FCA President/CEO from 1992 to 2005. As president, Shealy developed the FCA vision and mission statements; launched the One Way 2 Play—Drug Free program, urban initiative and international programs; and helped establish FCA’s sport-specific ministries. After stepping down from the presidency in 2005, Shealy served as the executive director of the FCA Football Coaches Ministry before retiring in 2008.

Prior to joining FCA, Shealy played football at Carson-Newman College and with the Quantico Marines after he entered the United States military. He later became a football coach and is best known for his work at the University of Richmond, where he coached from 1980 to 1988. Now retired, Shealy serves as an FCA volunteer in Lakeway, Tenn., where he resides with his wife, Barbara.

Bob Lilly

Two-time collegiate All-American Bob Lilly, a graduate of Texas Christian University, was the first-ever first-round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys. He played defensive tackle for the Cowboys from 1961 to 1974, winning one Super Bowl, two NFC titles, and becoming a seven-time All-Pro and 11-time Pro Bowl selection. Lilly is a member of both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame. He was also selected to the NFL’s 75th Anniversary All-Time Team in 1994.

For the past 25 years, Lilly has served and promoted FCA throughout the state of Texas by hosting the Greater Fort Worth FCA Bob Lilly-Scott Murray Golf Classic. He also has spent time on the FCA Fort Worth advisory board, volunteered for the ministry, and spoken on behalf of FCA. Lilly and his wife, Ann, currently reside in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ken Hatfield

For more than 40 years, Ken Hatfield has coached football and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. He began his football career as a defensive back at the University of Arkansas from 1961 to 1964—a time that included one Razorback NCAA championship— and began his coaching career at the United States Air Force Academy before going on to coach his alma mater to two straight Southwest Conference titles. After a stint at Clemson, Hatfield finished his coaching career at Rice University in 2005.

Currently, Hatfield is an FCA advocate in Arkansas where he travels to speak on behalf of the ministry at a variety of events.

Larry Mize
In 1981, Larry Mize joined the PGA Tour at the age of 22. Today, he continues to compete on the PGA Tour and Champions Tour after having won the Masters in 1987 and being inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in 1991.

An influential speaker, Mize is active in the FCA Ministry as a donor and volunteer and has coached at FCA Golf camps and participated in ministry breakfasts. Currently a member of the FCA advisory board in West Central Georgia, Mize and his wife, Bonnie, reside in Augusta, Ga.
