Three “Athlete of the Month” award winners and former Division I Head Coach to lead team

April 12, 2010 – FCA National Hockey Director, Rick Randazzo and Team FCA General Manager, Ken Paulin announced the first ever “Team FCA”. The Team will compete Memorial Day weekend at the Amherst Center in Buffalo, New York in the CAN/AM Tournament.
Leading Team FCA will be current FCA Heart and Soul Athlete of the Month winner Grant Garvin (St. Francis High School, NY) and former Heart and Soul winners Christopher Paulin (Buffalo Stars, NY) and Zach Kimmel (Hagerstown Northstars, MD). Team FCA will consist of 18 skaters and 2 goalies from at least 7 different states.
Current Alexandria Blizzard Head Coach (North American Hockey League) and former University of Alaska Head Coach, Doc Del Castillo, is excited to be a part of the first Team FCA. “I look forward to being a part of FCA Hockey and working with these young players. Sharing my faith as well as my past experiences is an important piece of why I wanted to be involved in FCA. I look forward to leading these young men and helping them to grow deeper in their faith.”
The Cleveland born defenseman Jeremy Todd (Jr. Penguins, PA) will join Garvin, Paulin and Kimmel as the team’s fourth player born in 1992. Garrett Skinner (Alexandria, MN) and Jordan Domine (Alexandria, MN) will be representing the hockey powerhouse state of Minnesota, while goaltender Connor Carew (West Warwick, RI) and forward Joseph Holleran (RI Saints, RH) hail from Rhode Island. Forwards Darren Dirkin (Team Maryland, MD), DJ Cicotte (Easton, MD), Riley Bourbonnais (Rochester, NY), Jordan Smith (Danville Inferno, IL) and Chase Harris (Jr. Hurricanes, NC) will bring offensive firepower to the Team.
Buffalo born players Alex Silvia (Buffalo Stars, NY), Peter Kazmierczak (Buffalo Bisons, NY), Tim Uhteg (Buffalo Stars, NY), Daquion Jones (Hasek Heroes, NY), Max Hyland (Buffalo Stars, NY), Brandon Cox (Orchard Park, NY) and Larry Smith (Buffalo Stars, NY) provide experience and depth both upfront and on defense.
Team GM Ken Paulin who coached the winning tournament team last year is excited about the opportunities FCA brings to the players. “Getting the chance to meet and play with other players who claim Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior is extremely exciting for the players.” Paulin says that several of these players have started Bible Studies on their teams and have had a tremendous impact in their local communities. “These kids are the future leaders of our country and I am proud to have them playing on our team this summer.”
