Ready for Impact

FCA

Are you a college student or know someone in college who would love to stretch their faith while serving in South Africa? Curious about FCA Impact Internships? The Impact Coordinator answers a few questions on the great adventure of following God for the summer.

FCA: How did God call you to lead Impact 2016 in Africa?

IC: I have had the opportunity to be involved in Impact South Africa since its beginning in 2011 and it has truly changed my life! I love watching young people say “yes” to God and take steps of faith to learn, grow and serve Him with their lives. It has been a great joy to see how the Lord continues to grow and use both Impact processes.

FCA: What can a person expect participating in an Impact Internship?

IC: Our prayer is that interns would further discover God's heart for the world and for their lives during the internship. In doing so, expect five weeks of living in an international context as well as in close community with fellow interns. Interns should expect to be out of their comfort zone and encounter God, perhaps, in a new way. Interns will be exposed to and serve in local sports ministry in South Africa and gain a global perspective of international sports ministry. All the while, they will be developing character and leadership skills in this cross-cultural learning environment which combines classroom teaching with hands-on training. There is a large emphasis on discipleship throughout the internship.

FCA: What’s a typical day look like during the internship?

IC: Although every day tends to look different, here’s a teaser: morning quiet time, classroom training, lunch, outreaches, fitness, dinner, worship and discipleship. Hint: It may help you to forget this schedule. Flexibility is key!

FCA: Can you share one significant moment you’ve seen during an Impact Internship?

IC: Each year, we host an FCA Camp for youth in South Africa. I love watching South African, American, and often times Asian athletes, serve together to execute the camp! It is phenomenal to watch the body of Christ serve together. God truly is a global God.

FCA: If you could tell a potential college athlete who is interested in applying one thing, what would it be?

IC: If you love God, sports and the world, I can’t think of a better place to be this summer than Impact 2016!
